Uploading your website
Although you cannot publish a website into Web Creator or FTP into
it, you can however copy and paste the html code from your
pre-existing website into the web creator html code. Below are
step by step instructions on how to do this, providing your
pre-existing website does not use Microsoft Front Page Extensions
(web bots such as hit counters, input forms, scrolling marquis, etc)
-
Log into your Web Creator web page.
-
Click "File Manager".
-
Click on the web page you want to change. This will
usually be the main page, "index.htm".
-
Click on the blue "HTML" link
in the toolbar.
-
Click "OK" on the dialog box that pops up.
-
You are now viewing the html code that makes your website what
it is. Put your mouse cursor inside the main box
containing the code and type "CTRL + A" which will select all
the text. You can also drag your mouse from top to bottom,
to select all the text for deletion.
-
Delete all text in the window by pressing your "Delete" button
on the keyboard.
-
Now it's time to replace the html code with the code from your
pre-existing web site. Find your website and open it using
whatever html editor you normally use. This editor could
be Microsoft Front Page, Dreamweaver, etc. Once you open
your website, change views from the normal Design view, over to
HTML view so that you can see the html code of the site.
If you cannot, then you must right-click the web page and choose
"View Source".
-
Repeat step #6, and select all code either by dragging your
mouse from top to bottom, or typing "CTRL + A" to select all.
Then right-click the highlighted text, and choose "Copy".
-
Switch back to your Web Creator web browser, and paste the html
text into the html field of Web Creator, which should still be
open from our previous steps. If not, repeat steps 1-5,
then paste.
-
In your Web Creator browser window, click "Save and Exit"
from the top toolbar.
-
You are now ready to view your new website in a browser.
If any changes need to be made, you can make them as you
normally would using your Web Creator interface.
